That is so cool.

We were driving, on our way to dinner a few nights ago, my husband and I in the front and our 18 month old and 8 year old daughters in the back.

Suddenly traffic slowed. Fire trucks and police cars everywhere. As we approached closer to the wreck, we see a tractor trailer had went over the mountain. The front of the truck down over the hill out of view, with just the rear end sticking up.

My 8 yr old daughter saw this mess and immediately, with great excitement, exclaimed "Oh wow, look at that! How..."

At this point she stopped and looked at me. I knew what she wanted to say, it was right there, written all over her face. So I looked at her and said, "Go ahead."

She released that word, as if it was hurting her to keep it balled up inside, with breathless excitement she exclaimed... "COOL!"

My daughter has such a tender heart, she knew that someone could have been hurt, but at the same time was torn because she had never seen this before and found it all so very... cool.

I explained to her that for some reason this is a normal human reaction. Wrecks, fights, drama, all seem to fascinate us. It is just part of human nature.
